Hudson’s Story
Soon after Hudson’s diagnosis, we began seeing a holistic vet for his treatment. He’s been getting acupuncture everyday weeks for the first year of his treatment, and now he gets it once per month. She also prescribed some Chinese herbs. They include: Dispel Statis in the Middle Palace (Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang), which are tablets; Concentrated Statis Breaker, which is a poweder; and Onco Support for Pets, which is also a powder. He takes these every day and has been since shortly after his diagnosis. About 4 – 5 months, he started having seizures. The neurologist isn’t sure that they’re related to the cancer but can’t rule out it hasn’t moved to his brain. He’s now on medication for that, which includes high doses of Levetiracetam, brand name Kepra (1,500 mg daily) and high doses of Gabapentin (1,800mg daily). This has definitely helped, but he has had a breakthrough seizure in the past 2 weeks. The last one before that was 11 weeks, so we feel it’s being managed well.
That’s everything that we’ve been doing in addition to the PolyMVA. As Poul must have told you, it’s been about 16 months since his diagnosis and he’s still here, so we feel very lucky to have found PolyMVA and our wonderful vet.
